Unfortunately I missed this unique event. The rare 14th-century profane building Artushof was designed as a bourse for the harbour business not for music . ;)...

Dear Jarek,Due to my company I'am every week from Monday to Friday in Gdansk, when not visiting our clients or trades in Europe or US.On weekend I'am with my family in Hamburg.90% of my ~4500 classic vinyls are in Gdansk as well as my most important ...

Experienced piano building/renovation masters here in Germany are recommending, as far as it concerns postwar Steinway's, the one's from the 60's reg. quality of materials as well as manufacturing. My 89 year old aunt in Karlsruhe is owning (and was p...

OK Romy, I agree this should stay here, especially that I will probably have more observations to come as from the late January.
I didn't explain the context of S3 use in my future system. I'm awaiting for a delivery of Beyma TPL-150 which will be ...

here's the measurement we've got from S3 on tractrix 260 horn.
the increments on the graph are 1db
it seems useful from around 450-500 to some 1.3k, but it still looks very bumpy in comparison with a number of ot...

With stereo you hear sound from more than one source (speaker) and the sound from each source is very nearly the same except for some variations in amplitude of certain frequencies and some phase differences which occur becau...

has anyone had a chance to peep into martion room? from some of the regular visitors of munich fair, i've heard that a sound quality in their room with their flagship system (4-way horns with 4 amps and active XO) was much much better than earlier ye...

I saw this turntable while over at the show in Munich. It is called Air Force 1. Allegedly there are Micro Seiki people behind it. There might be some truth in that.A Micro f...

I did wonder about what recordings would have been used through these speakers back in the late 20's. The electronic recording of music only began in around 1926, prior to that the recordings were entirely acoustic. (although some of those acoustic r...

I don't think Silbatone has any obligation to 'progress' a concept in the same way that an art gallery or museum has no obligation to modify or improve on its exhibits. They are just showing what is or rather what was.For what it's worth, I do think ...

I heard far worse bass performance in a good number of other rooms at the show. If the intention was to give people an experience of how large scale music/sound reproduction was or could have been 70 or 80 years ago, then the arrangement they chose w...

Besides the single driver Aporia (which I haven't heard) I don't think Silbatone has made any speakers. So they don't 'employ' GIP drivers. I think GIP is a separate Japanese company who have just been invited to participate at these German show...

As I understand it the Silbatone amplifiers are, in part, the work of JC Morrison. Although very nicely made, its hard to judge if they have any serious intention of selling them. I don't think there is any commercial imperative to do that just as th...

I would like to leave a message to all you guys watching this tread or having interest in playing around with horns. As I became an official distributor for following Polish brands in UK: Auto -Tech and Cube Audio - all their modelsare now available i...

Two Questions:1) Would it be difficult to replace the switching supply with an external linear supply. You could even get an adjustable one and play with the voltage.2) I have emailed PP three times whether their units can accept 120V balanced power....

I'm going to give the M2-12R a try with my SPU Classic.
In case anyone is interested........
Like the 3012r the M2-12R is extruded thin wall stainless steel. M2-12R has an even higher effective mass of 18g compared t...

Where does that leave the potential of magnetic tape for delivering good sound? There is physical contact but it is fairly constant in nature....

If you are going to do something like this then it would make sense to have it firing backwards & make use of the corner of the room in the way Carfrae did some 15 years ago.[IMG]http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i318/murrayjohnson/big-horn.jpg[/...

>About your ceiling fans. I will research this subject. I have a strong feeling that the noose I get from fans when I reduce the rotation speed is due to the >fact the I use the SS dimmers that basically clip the wave. Perhaps the fan motor...

There's only one thing worse than trying to assess the merits of something from what it does at a HiFi show and thst's assessing it based on a recording at a HiFi Show made using a telephone. :)...

Look at the scale & range of what you are trying to reproduce. It's also very difficult to record it....

While seeking for a CD capable of covering a low mid range, say from 300hz or under, I am offered a pair of TOA compression drivers of rather impressive size. Unfortunatelly a seller has no clue what model it is, except "it sounds as seducing as ...

well, i believe that the popularity of the better fostex tweeters comes from their typical, off-shelf sound which is soft and easy on ear in comparison with super-resolunt Ti or Be diaphragm equipped competition. they very much suit any sharpness com...

Yes, there is a Radian replacement diaphragm for original JBL phenol ones. It's a 4" voice coil, aluminium alloy dome with mylar suspension. Looks good on paper but I don't know if it is good. The retail is $210, usually goes on Ebay around $160.So y...

Roman,I don't think I've ever read your explanation why not 2482? We are all on a holy grail path to find a (somehow) available good compression driver that can go down to almost 200hz in domestic conditions and there are not many better candidates. ...

As the builder behind these horns, I can answer some of your questions. It's true, I was primarily focused on the woodworking/building side, and now I'm experimenting with amplification and crossovers. I can't speak authoritatively on those subjects...
